Letter to Parents from Director of Greek Life, Brian T. Clarke
Dear Parents,
I am pleased that your son or daughter has chosen to attend UC Irvine. It is my firm belief that the challenges and rewards of college life can be enhanced through the fraternity or sorority experience. UCI's Greek community is unique in that its diversity reflects that of the campus population as a whole. Students of all backgrounds and cultures have found a place for themselves in UC Irvine fraternities and sororities. Simply put, Greek life adds a dimension to one's college experience that is not found in other organizations.
There are many myths about fraternity and sorority membership, and this brochure is designed to help you and your son or daughter better discern the realities. UC Irvine fraternity and sorority members hold high academic standards, volunteer regularly on campus and in the community, develop and strengthen leadership skills, create a support network, and develop long-lasting friendships.
The University of California, Irvine is committed to the positive development of our Greek-affiliated students. Involvement in a fraternity or sorority can enrich the undergraduate experience and provide a strong foundation for cognitive, social, and personal development. I strongly encourage your son or daughter to "Discover the Opportunities" in the UC Irvine Greek Community. The benefits will continue beyond college and last a lifetime.
